Search "DJ Bali" and you get two very different worlds: the international touring names who play Savaya and Finns on a Saturday, and the Balinese song remixes that fill the rest of the results. Neither helps a couple planning a villa wedding in Uluwatu or a brand booking a pool party in Canggu. This is the guide for that job, from a female DJ who plays exactly these events across the island, with the details that decide whether a Bali night works: the venue type, the curfew, the season and the sound.

Bali's event map, area by area

Seminyak is the original beach-club strip. Potato Head and Ku De Ta set the sunset template the whole island now copies: a long afternoon that lifts into a night set as the sky goes orange. Seminyak also has the densest run of restaurants and villa clusters, so a DJ Seminyak booking is as likely to be a villa dinner as a beach-front brand event.

Canggu is where the energy moved. Finns runs full-day pool parties with a real club sound system, Atlas is next door, and the lanes behind Batu Bolong are full of villas that host birthdays and pre-wedding parties. A DJ Canggu crowd is younger, more international and expects house and tech house after dark.

Uluwatu is cliff country: Savaya for the big-night lineups, Ulu Cliffhouse for something more intimate above the water, and a run of clifftop wedding venues that are the reason most destination couples choose Bali at all. The 2026 shift in Uluwatu is toward sunset as the main event rather than the after party, which suits a set that starts with afro-house and amapiano and only turns up once the light has gone.

Nusa Dua and Jimbaran are the resort belt: five-star hotels with ballrooms, beach lawns and their own sound and production teams. Weddings here run on a hotel timeline, the DJ plugs into the resort's system, and the curfew is whatever the hotel's licence allows, which is usually later than a private villa.

Ubud and Sanur are quieter. Ubud weddings happen in jungle-view venues and villas where the music is dinner-first and the dance floor is a late, contained affair. Sanur is the family and long-stay side of the island, with beach-front restaurants that book a DJ for sunset sessions and private parties.

The curfew is the first question, not the last

This is the point that surprises couples most. Many Bali villas and a number of open-air venues stop amplified music at 10pm or 11pm; others run to midnight. In several areas outdoor amplification is restricted outright and there are decibel limits around residential banjars, while a beach club inside a designated tourism zone can play later. Venues that breach their hours risk warnings, fines and permit suspensions, so a good venue manager will tell you the cut-off before you sign.

What that means for a DJ Bali wedding: plan the energy backwards from the curfew. If music stops at 11pm, the first dance is at 8.30, the floor is open by 9, and the closing hour is the peak. Bali's dry season runs from April to September. October and November are shoulder months that still work for a covered venue; the wet season from December to March is fine for indoor and ballroom events and much cheaper, with the risk of an afternoon downpour on an open lawn.

Popular venues and planners book peak dates twelve to eighteen months ahead. The same wedding at a Nusa Dua resort or a Uluwatu venue with a later licence simply shifts the peak to midnight or beyond.
